Special Exhibition
Organic, vibrant, revolutionary: the design of mushroom materials – Mykobütten (handmade paper)
In her pioneering artistic work, Tanja Major explores the hidden world of fungi – and transforms it into sustainable, compostable paper: Mykobütten. Without cellulose from wood, made entirely from fungi, she creates works that make the cycles of nature tangible. Inspired by traditional paper-making techniques such as washi and expanded through her own experiments with polypores, trametes and leaf fungi, she creates a material that makes transience, change and connectedness visible. Her artistic works are a call to rethink and protect our relationship with nature.
